FSW Program vs CRS Score — What's the Difference?

The 67-point FSW test is your entry ticket to the Express Entry pool. Once inside, you're ranked by your CRS score (out of 1,200) against all other candidates. Passing 67 points does not guarantee an invitation — you also need a competitive CRS score.

Next Step After Passing 67 Points

Calculate your CRS score to see how you rank in the Express Entry pool and whether you're likely to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA).

How This Score Is Calculated

We total points across the six published FSWP selection factors: language proficiency (max 28), education (max 25), work experience (max 15), age (max 12), arranged employment (max 10), and adaptability (max 10) — a maximum of 100 points. A score of 67 or more meets the FSWP pass mark.

Worked Example

A 30-year-old applicant with a master's degree (23 pts), CLB 9 English in all four abilities (24 pts), 4 years foreign work experience (9 pts), no arranged employment (0 pts), and a spouse with CLB 5 English (3 adaptability pts) scores 12 (age) + 23 + 24 + 9 + 0 + 3 = 71 points — above the 67-point pass mark.

Assumptions

  • Language scores entered correspond to an actual designated test result (IELTS, CELPIP, TEF, or TCF) you can provide.
  • Education entered has been or can be assessed by an IRCC-approved Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) body if obtained outside Canada.

Limitations

  • Passing 67 points qualifies you for the Express Entry pool under FSWP — it does not guarantee an Invitation to Apply, which depends on your CRS rank against other candidates.
  • This tool does not check medical, security or criminal admissibility requirements.
  • Selection factor point values are set by IRCC and reviewed periodically — confirm current values via the official source linked above.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions — Canada FSW 67 Points

Does passing 67 points guarantee Canadian permanent residence?

No. Passing 67 points only qualifies you to enter the Express Entry pool under the Federal Skilled Worker Program. You are then ranked by your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score against all other candidates, and only those with competitive CRS scores receive an Invitation to Apply.

What if I score below 67 points?

You may not qualify under FSWP, but you could still be eligible under the Federal Skilled Trades Program or Canadian Experience Class, which use different criteria. A Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) nomination is also a separate pathway worth exploring.

Now calculate your full CRS score to see how competitive you are in the Express Entry pool.
